The Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is Europe's most exciting new resort and opens for the 2010 season on 1st March.

Rooms:

Furnished in a fresh contemporary style that reflects the essence of Sicily, the guest rooms at Verdura Golf & Spa Resort provide an elegant and relaxing personal space. There are 203 in total, each with its own uninterrupted view across the sparkling Mediterranean Sea from a private terrace.

Set across 230 hectares of olive groves and countryside, the rooms are in two distinct types of building, Courtyard and Landscape, which are woven subtly into the landscape and offer a real sense of privacy and space. Natural materials such as stone, sand, wood and cane echo the traditional architecture of Sicily, and rooms make imaginative use of both outdoor and indoor space.

Created by Olga Polizzi, The Rocco Forte Collection’s Director of Design, the interiors are beautifully appointed and encapsulate The Art of Simple Luxury. She has used a rich palette of earth tones and bright printed fabrics to reflect the character of Sicily, with a design motif inspired by a classic Sicilian tile. Bedrooms feature four-poster wooden beds, polished concrete floors and artful Italian lighting, and are decorated with locally fired earthenware. The bathrooms are naturally lit with stone vanity tops, and some have outside courtyards with fig trees.

Golf

If the warm climate of Sicily makes the island an excellent all-year-round destination for golf, the courses at Verdura Golf & Spa Resort make it a truly world-class one.

A game of golf here is an experience you will never forget, with beautiful blue skies overhead and epic sea and landscapes all around.

Leading golf architect Kyle Phillips, renowned for his championship courses at Kingsbarns in Scotland and The Grove in England, has designed an astonishing range of courses that work in close harmony with the beautiful Sicilian landscape. There are two championship 18-hole courses and a 9-hole course, all set amid olive and orange groves and with spellbinding views of the azure Mediterranean Sea. These are free of any buildings, allowing players to enjoy golf at its purest.

Spa

The Verdura Golf resort offers also one of the biggest Spa centres of Europe, ideal for relaxing after a golf-game or after an excursion to one of the nearby highlights.

Location

The Verdura Golf resort is located in the south of Sicily, circa 1h30 minutes drive from Palermo. In the neighbourhood are located the importante archaeological sites of Agrigento, Eraclea Minoa and Selinunte. The small nice town of Caltabelotta and large possibilities of special activities complete the offer. Think about a helicopterflight over the Greeck temples of Agrigento, a boatexcursion along the seashore leaving from the beach of the hotel, a scootertour or visit a local winehouse folowed by a profesisonal winetasting.
